Lattice determination of the critical point of QCD at finite T and μ

چکیده
Based on universal arguments it is believed that there is a critical point (E) in QCD on the temperature (T) versus chemical potential (µ) plane, which is of extreme importance for heavy-ion experiments. Using finite size scaling and a recently proposed lattice method to study QCD at finite µ we determine the location of E in QCD with n f =2+1 dynamical staggered quarks with semi-realistic masses on L t = 4 lattices. Our result is T E = 160 ± 3.5 MeV and µ E = 725 ± 35 MeV. For the critical temperature at µ = 0 we obtained T c = 172 ± 3 MeV.

The critical point of lattice QCD on the μ-T plane
We propose a method to study lattice QCD at finite temperature and chemical potential. We compare it with direct results and with the Glasgow method by using nf=4 QCD at Im(μ)6=0. We locate the critical endpoint (E) of QCD on the Re(μ)T plane. In this study we use nf=2+1 dynamical staggered quarks with semi-realistic masses on Lt=4 lattices. QCD at finite T and μ is of fundamental importance, s...
متن کاملTricritical point of lattice QCD with Wilson quarks at finite temperature and density
First principle study of QCD at finite temperature T and chemical potential μ is essential for understanding a wide range of phenomena from heavy-ion collisions to cosmology and neutron stars. However, in the presence of finite density, the critical behavior lattice gauge theory without species doubling, is unknown. At strong coupling, we examine the phase structure on the (μ, T ) plane, using ...

QCD at finite T and/or μ is of fundamental importance, since it describes physics relevant in the early universe, in neutron stars and in heavy ion collisions. Extensive experimental work has been done with heavy ion collisions at CERN and Brookhaven to explore the μ-T phase boundary (cf. ). Note, that past, present and future heavy ion experiments with always higher and higher energies produce...
متن کاملRevisiting strong coupling QCD at finite temperature and baryon density
The strong coupling limit (βgauge = 0) of lattice QCD with staggered fermions enjoys the same non-perturbative properties as continuum QCD, namely confinement and chiral symmetry breaking. In contrast to the situation at weak coupling, the sign problem which appears at finite density can be brought under control for a determination of the full (μ ,T ) phase diagram by Monte Carlo simulations. F...
